He is a United States Marine Corps veteran and earned a Business Communications degree from Kennesaw State University. His military service, education, professional experiences, and years of working with audiences have contributed to his perspectives on discipline, responsibility, leadership, communication, and service.
Dale is also a native Atlantan, giving him strong ties to the community and region he primarily serves.

In the television clip video to the left, Dale Hartsfield addresses the Atlanta City Council During the renaming process of Atlanta’s airport. This was about the renaming the busiest airport in the world and became quite a news story. Valerine Jackson, the widow of Maynard Jackson speaks at the end. The airport name was eventually changed from Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International airport, to honor the two longest serving Mayors in Atlanta History, who both made a big difference in the airport operations and history. Dale was and remains the Hartsfield Family spokesperson.

The book explores the fascinating history behind the various names used throughout the history of Atlanta's airport and examines the decisions that led to each change.
Drawing upon his personal experiences as the Hartsfield family spokesman during the airport naming controversy, Dale provides readers with a unique perspective on Atlanta history and one of the most recognizable airports in the world.
The Second Expanded Edition was released on February 22, 2021, the 50th anniversary of Mayor William B. Hartsfield's death.
Today, the book serves as both a historical resource and a reflection of Dale's commitment to preserving important stories and sharing them with future generations.
